Peter Brewer holds a BM in Jazz Studies: Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas and an MM in Jazz Studies: Composition/Arranging from the University of Oregon. He has performed with many groups, including the UNT 2 o’clock lab band, Cas Hailey, Amanda Palmer, and Donny McCaslin. Although the bulk of his playing experience is with jazz groups, he has also played and recorded genres such as classical, ska, reggae, and rock, and he enjoys all types of music. His arrangements and original pieces have been performed for the Oregon Jazz Ensemble featuring musicians such as Dan Balmer and Steve Wilson.
While earning his Master’s, Peter studied sound with the University of Oregon’s head audio engineer, Lance Miller. Peter worked at the university as an audio engineer for two years before moving back to Denton. While he was working at the university, he recorded recitals in all genres as well as ran live sound for various UO concerts. He also worked with student bands recording their own projects, which gave him the resources to start building his own studio. In Denton he has established Easy Brew Studio, LLC, a home and mobile studio with the capabilities to record live shows, CD projects, as well as spoken word. Peter has recorded extensively in Denton, Dallas/Forth Worth and Kansas City. He is the current recording engineer for Sofar DF/W.
Peter grew up in Kansas City, MO, with a family of musicians who taught him to appreciate sound. Now he lives in Denton with his wife, Bonnie, and their two cats, Don and Gimli.
